Last Friday, August 26th, OPS began its contract with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to bring its OPS system for "Lean in Government" to our neighbors to the north.
"Lean" is a system based on continuous improvement by documenting processes and working with those that most closely work with a process to eliminate waste.
Lean, which originated in manufacturing, is now being recognized as a tool for improving any process with applications in healthcare, the military and in government. Success with government employment centers and a much more significant effort in Baltimore City brought OPS to begin focusing more of its attention on opportunities to bring Lean to government.
In 2015, legislation in Pennsylvania created GO TIME - the Governor's Office of Transformation, Innovation, Management and Efficiency. The legislation also called for "continuous improvement" efforts in state agencies. OPS is looking forward to working with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to bring this powerful continuous improvement methodology and culture across their state government.
OPS will continue their work to bring Lean training, principles and systems to new opportunities for Lean in Government.
