City of Baltimore Lean Pilot

OPS was engaged by the City of Baltimore to help start their Lean program.  The initial area selected was in Finance related to the Retail Business District Licensing process.  The project was a hugh success reducing labor effort by 40% and taking the program duration from 11 months to 6 months, among a variety of other process improvements.  Additionally, the individuals began to see the power that Lean can have on any process.  One individual stated that "[OPS] saw we were hungry and could have given us a fish, instead they gave us a fishing rod and taught us how to fish...The challenge is now going to be to use this methodolgy on other processes and continously improvement them for our citizens".
